This workshop is a three-day deep dive into art journaling techniques. Art journaling is a medium for exploring your creativity. You don’t have to consider yourself “artistic” or even “good” at art to benefit from art journaling. Everyone has a creative side that needs nurturing, and this workshop offers the opportunity to experiment and try new things. * Please bring your own journal. It can be any size (8×12, 7×10, 5.5×8.5, are all great options). Journals should be “mixed media” paper (not a drawing or sketching notebook). They can be purchased at The Art Box in Crozet, Michaels, or Walmart. All other materials are included. *

DRAWING & SKETCHING WITH INKS & COLOR
*6-26-22: This class is full. Please email office@crozetarts.org to be put on a waitlist. Thank you.*
TAUGHT BY: JOHN A. HANCOCK
Explore drawing & sketching with inks and try out several strategies for adding color, too. Starting with traditional black inks, we will employ permanent and soluble inks using pens and brushes. I’ll demonstrate traditional brown inks and modern color inks. Focusing on techniques for line, texture, and washes, you will choose how to add color with dry media (pastels, chalks, color pencils etc.) or wet media (inks or watercolor). To bring these together, we’ll develop design strategies balancing visual richness with simplicity. Lots of feedback, helpful handouts, demos. Once registered, you’ll receive additional details and a suggested supply list. Classes will be held inside and, weather permitting, outdoors.
STUDENTS: Adults & Mature Teens
DATES & TIME: Sundays, July 3 – 31, 1:30 – 4:00 pm
