INTRO TO THE BASICS OF WATERCOLOR
INSTRUCTOR: John A. Hancock
DESCRIPTION: In this 6-week course we will focus on the basic skills used to create watercolors. Starting with brush techniques, we will explore managing water/paper interaction, several wet-on-dry and wet-into-wet techniques along with color mixing and design. The class is designed to be very suitable for beginners or more experienced painters seeking a brief refresh. Expect lots of feedback, demos, digital handouts, and even some optional homework.
STUDENTS: Adults and very mature/older (16+) teens, minimum 4, max 12
DATES and TIMES: 6 Sundays, 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm, Starts April 14th to May 19th (or May 26th as I might have to skip May 5th)

DRAWING, AN INTRODUCTION
INSTRUCTOR: John A. Hancock
DESCRIPTION: Experience the challenges and the joys of drawing in this 6-week, Wednesday evening class. Introducing beginners and others to the basic, essential incremental steps for drawing confidently from observation (and imagination too). We will explore a small range of drawing materials including graphite pencil, conte’, pen & ink, and ink wash as we employ some of the very best traditional and contemporary drawing strategies. Loads of helpful handouts as well as group and personal feedback.
STUDENTS: Adults & very mature/older (16+) teens. Minimum of 4, max 12.

SKETCHING IN THE SHADOW OF THE BLUE RIDGE WORKSHOP

DESCRIPTION: Join this 1-Day Workshop in the Shadow of the Blue Ridge! Suitable for beginner to advanced students w/previous experience in sketching, drawing or painting.
