2024 Exploring & Creative Movement
EXPLORING & CREATIVE MOVEMENT:
Ages 3-5 (must be age 3 by 9/1/24)
Tuesdays 3:30 – 4:00 pm or
Thursdays 1:30 – 2:00 pm
Each class is limited to 6 – 8 students.
This class introduces children to movement and dance using a variety of music and lots of imagination. Students will also explore exercises that build fundamental physical strength and coordination and explore movement that enhances their understanding of basic ballet concepts.

PRE-BALLET:
Ages 5-6 (must be age 5 by 10/1/24)
Tuesdays 4:15 – 5:00 pm
Class is limited to 9 students.
August 19th: The Tuesday Pre-Ballet class is full; registration is open only to those students who have held a place. Please email Office@CrozetArts.org to be put on the waiting list. Students in Kindergarten may register for Creative Movement; students who will be at least at 5 by September 1 may register for the Thursday Pre-Ballet & Ballet I class (younger 5’s should join Creative Movement).

Pre-Ballet is a fun introduction to basic foundations of ballet. Classes will include stretching exercises to build body-awareness, elementary ballet steps, fun exercises to develop musicality, and improvisation to nurture the use of imagination and music interpretation in dance.

PRE-BALLET & BALLET I (combined ages):
Ages 5 – 7 (must be age 5 by 9/1/24)
October 30: Pre-Ballet/Ballet I is FULL. Please email office@crozetarts.org to be placed on the wait list.
Note: 5-year-old students may instead enroll in Creative Movement; beginner students ages 8 & up please email CrozetArts@gmail.com for class placement.
Thursdays 4:30 – 5:15 pm
For students with or without previous dance experience. This class introduces beginning ballet technique while continuing with fun and creative movement exercises to develop strength, musicality, and expressive and exciting dancing!

Crozet Orchard Dances 2024: Foxes & Bunnies
BALLET II:
Ages 7-9 with previous training; placement required
Mondays 4:45 – 5:45 pm
Ballet II is for students with at least one or two years of recent ballet training. Classes focus on building strength, proper placement & alignment, flexibility, good ballet technique, as well as musicality and expressive movement in a fun and supportive class environment.
BALLET III-A & BALLET III-B:
Ages ~ 8-11 with previous training; placement required
Ballet III-A: Wednesdays 4:55 – 5:55
Ballet III-B: Tuesdays 5:15 – 6:15
Placement in Ballet III-A & Ballet III-B is based on age and level of training.

Crozet Orchard Dances 2024: Peony Dance
BALLET IV:
Ages ~ 9 – 11 with previous training; placement required
Wednesdays 3:30 – 4:45
Ballet IV is for students with at least two or three years of recent ballet training. Classes focus on building strength, proper placement & alignment, flexibility, good ballet technique, increasing ballet vocabulary, as well as musicality and expressive movement in a fun and supportive class environment. Ballet IV also includes pre-pointe exercises. This year, Ballet IV will include Character Dance; see Class Attire for info on Character shoes. Ballet IV students have the option of enrolling in a second class/week; email Sharon Tolczyk at CrozetArts@gmail.com for more info.

INTERMEDIATE I BALLET:
Ages ~ 10 & up with previous training; placement required
Thursdays 3:00 – 4:15 pm (Base Class – required)
Mondays 3:15 – 4:30 (second class/week; strongly encouraged)
Intermediate I is a children’s intermediate level ballet class for students with a solid foundation of recent ballet training. This class focuses on building ballet technique, strength, and vocabulary and will include pre-pointe exercises to build strength for future pointe work. Intermediate I students have the option of enrolling in a second class/week, which is strongly encouraged. The Monday Intermediate IV class will be a Modern Dance class on the second Monday of every month.

Crozet Orchard Dances 2024: Garland Dance
INTERMEDIATE II-III BALLET:
Ages ~ 11 & up, with previous training; placement required
Thursdays 5:30 – 7:00 pm (Base Class – required)
Mondays 6:15 – 7:45 pm/8:15 (optional Intermediate-Advanced second class/week)
Wednesdays 6:15 – 8:00/8:30 (optional Advanced Ballet as additional class, with S. Tolczyk’s permission)
Saturdays 10:30 am – 12:10 pm/12:45 (optional Advanced Ballet as additional class, with S. Tolczyk’s permission)
Intermediate II-III is an intermediate level ballet class for students with a solid foundation of recent ballet training. This class focuses on building ballet technique, strength, and vocabulary and will include pre-pointe exercises to build strength for future pointe work, or beginning pointe for students on pointe. Intermediate II-III will have Modern Dance on the second Thursday of every month. Intermediate II-III students have the option of attending the additional classes listed above (by Discount Ballet Card); prior permission and placement by S. Tolczyk is required.

Crozet Orchard Dances 2024: Sun
ADVANCED BALLET:
Teens & Adults; placement required
Mondays 6:15 – 8:15 pm (includes pre-pointe/pointe)
Wednesdays 6:15 – 8:30 pm (Base class – includes pre-pointe/pointe – required for teens)
Saturdays 10:30 – 12:45 pm (includes pre-pointe/pointe)
Advanced Ballet is for teens and adults with at least three-four years of recent ballet training, who have reached an advanced-intermediate or advanced level of training. Students should have a strong grasp of ballet technique and vocabulary. Advanced Ballet students are urged to take at least two ballet classes per week in order to develop and sustain the strength and technique needed for advanced level classes. Wednesday is the Base class for teens; additional Monday/Saturday classes may be taken Discount Ballet Card. Adults attend using an Adult Ballet Card.

Joy & Delight December 2023: O Tannenbaum
Pointe: Intermediate & Advanced classes include pre-Pointe/Pointe, depending on student’s level. Students considering or continuing pointe work must take at least two ballet classes/ week. Readiness for pointe will be based on individual assessments, with student’s health & safety as the primary concern. Please contact Sharon Tolczyk for more info.

ADULTS
Adult students are welcome in the following classes:
• Intermediate II – III (Thursday 5:30 – 7:00 pm)
• Monday Intermediate III & Advanced (6:15 – 7:45/8:15 pm)
• Wednesday Advanced (6:15 – 8:00/8:30 pm)
• Saturday Advanced (10:30 am – 12:10/12:45 pm)
Adult students purchase class cards for Intermediate & Advanced classes.
Adult Ballet 2022
Boys/men are welcome in all classes, according to age and level of training.
