Exploring & Creative Movement

and Ballet Classes

EXPLORING & CREATIVE MOVEMENT, Ages 3-5 (must be 3 by 9/1/22)

Tuesdays 1:30 – 2:00 pm or
Wednesdays 3:30 – 4:00 pm

Each class is limited to 6 students.

Session 4 begins March 7 & 8.

This class introduces children to movement and dance using a variety of music and lots of imagination. Students will also explore exercises that build fundamental physical strength and coordination and explore movement that enhances their understanding of basic ballet concepts.


PRE-BALLET, Ages 5-6 (must be 5 by 10/1/22)

Tuesdays 3:45 – 4:30 pm

Class is limited to 8 students.

Pre-Ballet is a fun introduction to basic foundations of ballet.  Classes will include stretching exercises to build body-awareness, elementary ballet steps, fun exercises to develop musicality, and improvisation to nurture the  use of imagination and music interpretation in dance.


BALLET I, Ages 6-8 (must be 6 by 10/1/22)

Thursdays 4:20 – 5:05 pm

For students with or without previous dance experience. This class introduces beginning ballet technique while continuing with fun and creative movement exercises to develop strength, musicality, and expressive and exciting dancing!


BALLET II, Ages 7-9 with previous training; placement required

Thursdays 3:15 – 4:10 pm (base class)
Mondays 4:00 – 5:00 pm

Ballet II is for students with at least one or two years of recent ballet training. Classes focus on building strength, proper placement & alignment, flexibility, good ballet technique, as well as musicality and expressive movement in a fun and supportive class environment. Students have the option of enrolling in a second class/week on Mondays (4:00 – 5:00).


BEGINNER/ADVANCED BEGINNER BALLET for ages 8-10

Mondays 5:15 – 6:15 pm

This class is for students with some or no previous ballet training, or for students who have been away from ballet during the pandemic and wish to restart. The class will include basic barre and center work, as well as improvisation and musicality exercises to inspire free and joyful movement.


BALLET III, Ages ~8-10 with previous training; placement required

Wednesdays 4:20 – 5:20 pm (base class)
Mondays 4:00 – 5:00 pm

Ballet III is for students with at least two or three years of recent ballet training. Classes focus on building strength, proper placement & alignment, flexibility, good ballet technique, as well as musicality and expressive movement in a fun and supportive class environment. Students have the option of enrolling in a second class/week on Mondays (4:00 – 5:00).


BEGINNER/ADVANCED BEGINNER BALLET for ages 11 – ADULT

Tuesdays 6:30 – 7:30 pm

This class is for students ages 11 & up with some or no previous ballet training, or for older students with training looking for a slower-paced class or a class in which to ease back into ballet. The class will include gentle stretching, and basic barre and center work.


INTERMEDIATE I-II BALLET, Ages approximately 10-12 with previous training; placement required

Tuesdays 5:15 – 6:15 pm (base class)
Thursdays 5:15 – 6:30 pm (with Intermediate III)

Intermediate I-II is an intermediate level ballet class for students with a solid foundation of recent ballet training.  This class focuses on building ballet technique, strength, and vocabulary and will include pre-pointe exercises to build strength for future pointe work.  Intermediate I-II students have the option of enrolling in one or two classes/week.


INTERMEDIATE III BALLET, Ages approximately 12 – adult, with previous training; placement required

Thursdays 5:15 – 6:30 pm (base class – includes pre-/beginning pointe)
Mondays 6:30 – 8:15 pm (includes pre-pointe/pointe)

Intermediate III is an intermediate level ballet class for students with at least 2 – 3 years of recent ballet training.  This class focuses on building ballet technique, strength, and vocabulary and will include pre-pointe exercises to build strength for future pointe work.  Intermediate III students may join the Monday Intermediate-Advanced Ballet as a second class/week.


ADVANCED BALLET, Teens & Adults; placement required

Mondays 6:30 – 8:15 pm (includes pointe)
Wednesdays 6:00 – 8:15 pm (base class – includes pointe)
Saturdays 10:30 – 12:40 pm (includes pointe)
Saturday 12:50 – 1:30 pm: Variations following Advanced Ballet Class

Advanced Ballet is for teens and adults with at least three-four years of recent ballet training, who have reached an advanced-intermediate or advanced level of training. Students should have a strong grasp of ballet technique and vocabulary.  Advanced Ballet students are urged to take at least two ballet classes per week in order to develop and sustain the strength and technique needed for advanced level classes.

Pointe: Intermediate & Advanced classes include pre-Pointe/Pointe, depending on student’s level. Students considering or continuing pointe work must take at least two ballet classes/ week. Readiness for pointe will be based on individual assessments, with student’s health & safety as the primary concern. Please contact Sharon Tolczyk for more info.


ADULTS

Adult students are welcome in the following classes:
• Beginner/Advanced Beginner for ages 11 – Adult (Tuesday 6:30 – 7:30)
• Intermediate II – III (Thursday 5:15 – 6:30)
• Monday Intermediate III & Advanced (6:30 – 7:45/8:15)
• Wednesday Advanced (6:00 – 7:45/8:15)
• Saturday Advanced (10:30 – 12:10/12:40)
• Saturday Variations (12:50 – 1:30)
Adult students purchase class cards for Intermediate & Advanced classes.
Beginner/Advanced Beginner Tuesday class enrolls for 6-week sessions.


Boys are welcome in all classes. A separate class for boys ages 8 – 11 may be scheduled according to interest.
