Amanda Green is a self-taught artist and Lynchburg, Virginia native. She attended the University of Georgia where she majored in education and political science. She is a certified social studies teacher with a Master’s in educational leadership. She moved to Charlottesville in 2009 and became a stay at home parent to her three children. Along the way she rediscovered her love of art and found great joy exploring new ideas and a variety of projects with her children. Recently Amanda has taught social studies part-time at Western Albemarle High School and Albemarle High School. These days, however, she feels driven to combine both her passions – art and teaching. Amanda works in many mediums as exploring new ways to create is really her favorite thing. Her drawings and paintings focus on line and color. She enjoys trying new processes and new materials. However, most of her artistic energy these days is spent on wearable art. Amanda is excited about slow fashion and upcycling. She enjoys embroidering hoops and clothing and crafting handmade jewelry through bead weaving.
