GROUP GUITAR LESSONS

with Daniel McCarthy

Learn guitar in a fun group setting!

Instructor Daniel McCarthy will show you correct playing technique, how to read music, and basic guitar maintenance to equip you with basic knowledge and skills to play your favorite songs, learning in an enjoyable and supportive group setting.  Instruction materials will be provided; all you need to bring is your guitar and a desire to learn and have fun!  Daniel has a Masters degree in music, has over 10+ years of teaching experience, and is currently the guitar teacher at The Covenant School.

5:30 – 6:00 pm  Beginners ages 7 – 10
6:05 – 6:45 pm:  Beginners/Advanced Beginners ages 11 – 15
6:50 – 7:30 pm:  Advanced Beginners ages 16 – Adults
7:35 – 8:15 pm:  Intermediate ages 13 – Adults

Please note:  Group lessons require a minimum of 3 students.
If only one or two students enroll(s) in a class, the tuition will be at the private or semi-private rate (see below); students will have the option to withdraw if they do not wish to transfer to private or semi-private lessons if a group lesson does not fill.

Summer Session Note:
For this short summer session, make-up lessons are not available.
However, students may enroll in fewer than four weeks if they anticipate being away on vacation.  Payment for fewer than four weeks must be made by check (not online), in full, prior to July 21 ($18/week + $3 registration).

Private & semi-private lessons may be scheduled before group lessons on Tuesdays.  Email Sharon@CrozetArts.org if you would like this option.

 Guitar Tuition (4-week session):

• Groups of 3 or more:  $72 + $3 Registration Fee = $75

•  Semi-private lesson (30-minutes):
$80/person + $3 Registration Fee = $83

•  Private lesson (30-minutes):
$100 +$3 Registration Fee = $103

Daniel McCarthy is an experienced classical and jazz guitarist with an extensive educational background and experience in performance. He earned his Bachelor’s in Music (Magna Cum Laude) from James Madison University studying classical guitar with Mr. Keith Stevens and his Masters in Music Performance from Appalachian State University studying classical guitar with Dr. Douglas James and jazz guitar with Mr. Andy Page. He also taught classical and jazz guitar at ASU as a graduate assistant. He has performed (as featured soloist) at the L’off Jazz Festival in Montreal, the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, and the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Locally, Daniel has given notable classical guitar recitals as a guest artist at JMU and the Charlottesville Classical Guitar Society. In addition to his experience as a performer and teacher, Daniel has arranged pieces for guitar and was commissioned by composer Jane Roman Pitt to arrange for two guitars her “Songs of the Season,” a piece originally composed for piano.  Daniel currently teaches guitar at The Covenant School.
