Laura Allen HeadshotLaura Allen is a Virginia native who studied art at Davidson College and sculpture at Portland State University. Prior to graduate school, she lived in tent in Southwest Virginia for a year with her husband. After living in Portland, Raleigh, and then moving up the I-95 corridor in Virginia, she is quite pleased to be back in the mountains in Crozet. Most of her time is spent wrangling two super kids to the bus stop and activities. She exhibits in Virginia, Colorado and California. Primarily a sculptor, she is passionate about materials and process. Reclaimed objects, rich in inherent history and associations, are sewn, wrapped, folded and glued to create forms that comment on her current lifestyle and interests. She is fascinated with the hand-working processes of her grandmothers that create imperfect outcomes, adding personal, human touches to otherwise manufactured and plastic objects.  www.lauraelizabethallen.com

Class descriptions:

BarrePop …is a full body workout done both at the barre and on the floor. Participants can expect increases in their overall stregth, body awareness, flexibility, muscle tone and posture. Barre Pop combines elements of Pilates, and exercises done at the Barre specifically designed to tone the body, all set to pop music. It is both challenging and fun!  Bring H20 & a small towel and a mat.

Pilates Mat:  This is an all-level Pilates class designed for everyone whether a beginner or advanced student. Pilates is an isometric form of movement using the body’s weight and our own intention to create resistance which strengthens and elongates the muscles and improves posture. This class is done on the floor.  Please bring a mat and H20 (no shorts please).

Alexis Ryan studied classical Pilates in New York with Romana Kryzanowska, Joseph Pilates’ protege and received her certification from Master teacher Risa Sheppard of the Sheppard method in Los Angeles. Her lifelong pursuit of Mind Body integration teaching prompted her to earn her Masters in Clinical Psychology in 2013 and she is in the process of becoming a licensed psychotherapist in the Commonwealth. Her ten years teaching both classical method Pilates as well as West coast progressive style Pilates creates a blend that can be tailored to suit the needs of any client, regardless of injury or level of fitness. Join Alexis to experience how Pilates and BarrePop classes can transform your postural alignment, elongate and tone your muscles and improve health and wellbeing.  Your body will thank you!
