The Twinkle Project is an interdisciplinary collaborative production of dance, theater, music, and art, using selections from Mozart’s 12 variations on, “Ah vous dirai-je, Maman” (familiar to us as, “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”) and verse from Shakespeare.  The workshop is open to students (girls and boys) with or without experience or previous training in the arts. Students will learn dance/instrumental/drama scenes based on constellations, the Story of Dhruva (North Star), Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and will create props and costume pieces for the production.

Students will concentrate in dance or theater for their performance role(s), or may be involved in both; original choreography and scenes will be created for various small groups based on level of experience & training to build the production.   All students will participate in art and various music activities.

Talent Education @ Crozet Arts cello students will perform selected music and will accompany the dancers and actors, as well.

During Art, all students will participate in making props/backdrop/costume pieces for the performance.

On Friday, the workshop will finish with studio performances of the week’s work.

The Twinkle Project 2013 was generously supported by a grant from the Bama Works fund of Dave Matthews Band in the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation (CACF).  The grant provided funds to support the infrastructure of the workshop, which allows us to continue to offer this unique collaborative opportunity in the arts.

Need-based scholarships are available; email   Sharon@CrozetArts.org   for information.

Students who participated in The Twinkle Project 2013 (last summer) are encouraged and welcome to participate again!  The production will be built around the participants, allowing for lots of creativity and new opportunities for all.
